Nigerian entertainer and Twitch streamer Carter Efe (Oderhohwo Joseph Efe) and American singer and content creator Taylor Jasmine have released the official music video for their collaborative single, “Met You”.
Following days of studio teasers and audio previews that began circulating online in early October, the official visuals premiered on Carter Efe’s YouTube channel on Tuesday, 20 October 2026, drawing more than 100,000 views within its opening hours.
Inside ‘Met You’: Blending Atlanta R&B with Lagos Afropop
Credited jointly to Taylor Jasmine and Carter Efe, “Met You” pairs smooth R&B vocal melodies with a mid-tempo Afropop bounce. The track is built around the theme of a long-distance romance bridging the United States and West Africa, combining English verses with Nigerian Pidgin and Yoruba.
In the official release note accompanying the premiere, the duo described the record as a reflection of how their paths crossed:
“Two worlds. One unexpected connection. From Atlanta, Georgia, to Lagos, Nigeria, ‘Met You’ tells the story of an unexpected journey that turned into something unforgettable. What began as two people from different sides of the world crossing paths became a connection that changed everything.”
On the record, Jasmine leads the melodic chorus, reflecting on how boarding a flight across the Atlantic reshaped her perspective on love, while Carter Efe delivers a playful second verse in Pidgin and Yoruba—quipping, “Jasmine, you dey jazz me”—as he celebrates leaving his old lifestyle behind.
The accompanying music video, directed by Kambi Pictures, captures the pair across intimate indoor settings and lifestyle scenes built around the chemistry that has driven their joint broadcasts over the past month.
From Viral Livestreams to the Recording Studio
The release of “Met You” serves as the musical centrepiece of Taylor Jasmine’s multi-week visit to Nigeria, which has dominated local entertainment timelines since late September 2026.
- Arrival and Birthday Celebrations (September 2026): Jasmine arrived in Lagos from Georgia on 25 September 2026 ahead of Carter Efe’s 25th birthday on 29 September, where a viral video of Efe staging a romantic proposal sparked widespread debate online over whether the pair were officially dating or crafting an elaborate livestream storyline.
- ‘Chaos in the Ring’ Boxing Victory (1 October 2026): During Nigeria’s 66th Independence Day celebrations in Lagos, Efe carried Jasmine into the ring before defeating social media rival Speed Darlington to retain his Balmoral Promotions celebrity boxing belt. Speaking in his post-fight interview, as reported by Channels Television and Premium Times, Efe credited “my woman, Taylor Jasmine” for giving him the strength to win and joked that he would not step back into the boxing ring until after they get married.
- Delta State Homecoming (Early October 2026): Days after the boxing match, Efe took Jasmine to his hometown in Delta State, streaming her introduction to traditional attire, local cuisine, and community life.
